Simone Domingues Counselling

Empower Your Future by Embracing Self-Awareness and Nurturing Emotional Well-Being"

About me

Hello! My name is Simone Ferreira Domingues. I’m here to introduce myself and share the work I love, rooted in my journey that began in Brazil. I hold a degree in Psychology, which marked the start of a fulfilling 25-year career focused on mental health and learning—two areas I am deeply passionate about. My approach is grounded in a systemic perspective, combining empathy and respect for each individual’s unique story.

Over the years, I have pursued advanced training, including Basic and Advanced courses in Gestalt Therapy, Special and Inclusive Education, and School Psychology. Along the way, I’ve also participated in numerous workshops, seminars, and talks, which have all enriched my professional journey.

Personally, I’ve always loved socialising at the local club, spending time with family and friends, and building connections that have shaped my life and career. These experiences have been integral to my 25 years of leadership in schools and in my private psychology practice in Brazil.

My professional background includes:

  • Brief Psychotherapy (children, adolescents, and adults) and Long-Term Psychotherapy (adults).

  • Psychotherapy for cancer patients.

  • Career Guidance (clinical and institutional) for young people and adults.

  • Clinical and Institutional Psychopedagogy, addressing learning difficulties and inclusive education.

I am passionate about fostering personal growth, independence, and healthy social interactions. It’s challenging to summarise a lifetime of experiences dedicated to mental health and well-being, but I deeply value respecting each person’s pain, regardless of its intensity or nature. Life has taught me to embrace different cultural perspectives shaped by location, religion, and family structures. Having lived in several Brazilian cities, four years in Dubai, and now two years in Australia, I continue to adapt and learn, which enriches my systemic approach to understanding human challenges.

Currently, I am an Honours-equivalent psychologist recognised by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and a Level 4 registered Counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). This allows me to provide both Brief and Long-Term Psychotherapy. I am delighted to offer online services to adults and young adults.

My clinical approach is integrative and systemic, tailoring therapy to each client’s unique context. I draw on methods from Gestalt Therapy (Fritz Perls), Person-Centred Therapy (Carl Rogers), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), among others. Treatment decisions are always made collaboratively, ensuring clarity and alignment with the client’s goals.

I believe every client has the potential to overcome life’s challenges. My role as a Counsellor is to support that journey, whether it involves managing psychological pain, alleviating symptoms, or improving overall well-being and quality of life. While I do not provide psychodiagnosis (as it is outside the scope of Counsellors in Australia), I work with clients to address concerns such as anxiety, mood instability, focus and organisation, stress management, and more.

I approach each person with empathy, understanding, and respect, offering a safe space to navigate life’s challenges. My work complies with Australian legal and ethical standards, following the ACA Code of Ethics. I also engage in regular supervision with an ACA-registered supervisor, ensuring the highest professional standards. Confidentiality is always maintained, with exceptions only in cases where disclosure is necessary for safety or legal reasons, as outlined by ACA guidelines.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and my approach. It would be a privilege to support you on your journey through Brief or Long-Term Psychotherapy in a process that is meaningful, unique, and valuable.

Warm regards,
Simone Ferreira Domingues
